Getting clear on what our own non-negotiables are is the first step in setting healthy boundaries in our relationship.
Non-negotiables are things we will not budge on no matter what, and they are based on our own values and principles. They are different from the “nice-to-haves”.
Some of us might have a higher tolerance level than others, but we all have a bottom line. When we feel we are being stepped all over, that’s because our actions are not aligned with our own thinking. We are not following through with our non-negotiables even though they really matter to us.
